Ranbir Kapoor will re-tell the story of the controversial star

If there is one actor who can re-live the hedonistic lifestyle of Bollywood bad boy Sanjay Dutt, it has to be Ranbir Kapoor. In a film directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the Ye Jawani Hai Deewani actor will play the lead in a biopic of the troubled veteran star.

For those fans who are keeping track of the good looking 34-year-old, they would have noticed that he’s been packing on the pounds lately. It’s not because he’s giving up a healthy lifestyle, no, but it’s because he’s doing what he can to build his physique to match Dutt’s. Talking about his weight gain candidly, Ranbir Kapoor said, “It has been an inspiring journey for me to be playing Sanjay Dutt for the silver screen. I have never put on so much weight before and now plan to reduce some weight for the next phase of shooting.”

The ups and downs of Sanjay Dutt’s controversial life first came into the limelight when he was 22 years old and was known for wild child ways, including his addiction to drugs, ultimate rehab stay overseas and let’s not forget his turbulent relationship with a number of gorgeous actresses at the time. Despite his title of ‘Deadly Dutt’ for his acting prowess in a number of film genres, his personal life was in constant upheaval.

Dutt’s most infamous story of his life was his arrest under Terrorist And Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA) that saw him in and out of jail, threatening his career in Bollywood and tearing his family apart. After his release from prison in February 2016 for ‘good behaviour’, thus curtailing his complete sentencing term, we have seen little of Sanjay Dutt. We know he’s with his family – his wife, Manyata and their twins.

It is said that for the yet untitled biopic, Ranbir Kapoor will have six-seven different looks in total. He needs to re-live the traumatic years of Sanjay Dutt that play out like a nightmare. And as for the director of the film, Ranbir says, “It’s amazing to be working with a director like Rajkumar Hirani.”
