A R Rahman is the music composer for the upcoming Sachin Tendulkar biopic, Sachin: A Billion Dreams
Two great Indian icons have come together from different fields to create a movie masterpiece. Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar will have his biopic for the big screen, called Sachin: A Billion Dreams. And none other than Oscar winning maestro, A R Rahman has been roped in to compose the music for the film.
A truly talented and remarkable human being, A R Rahman keeps himself out of the spotlight and concentrates on creating musical masterpieces. Also, behind the scenes, he has donated his time and money to a number of charitable causes that do not make headlines, but create an impact nonetheless. All of these good qualities seem strikingly similar to another living Indian legend – Sachin Tendulkar. His contribution to sports and cricket in particular, remains unmatched to this day.
So it was no surprise that A R Rahman would be asked whether he could point out any other similarities between him and his fellow icon. Humble and straightforward as ever, the composer first joked about it saying, “Everybody finds something common. I don’t know what it is. I think both of us look young. We have the same height.”
But then he spoke about what he truly feels about what they have in common. Over and above their insane amount of talent, accolades and big hearts, A R Rahman believes that he and Sachin Tendulkar are both equally patriotic. He said, “But I find the kind of patriotism in his approach [is similar to what I have].” Couldn’t be more true! The two have dedicated their lives and careers to their talent, but most importantly to their love for their country.
When asked about why he chose to compose music for Sachin: A Billion Dreams, he said “I wanted to sing the song because it is his movie. I wanted to be a part of it.”
