‘Aashiqui 2’ to be remade by debutant director Vishal Mahadkar


After enough struggle the makers of the 1990’s musical hit movie ‘Aashiqui’ have finally decided to make the remake. The Bhatts have already roped in Vishal Mahadkar to make the remake of the film.

The movie was originally directed by Madhur Bhandarkar and would go on floors next year. Some of the sources from the production unit informed that the direction of the flick was earlier offered to Madhur, who denied and then the makers immediately handed over the script to Mahadkar.

At present Vishal is busy directing his debut movie ‘Blood Money’, but there are possibilities that the director would make his debut with the remake of ‘Aashiqui’. Meanwhile the producers of Vishesh films, Mukesh and Mahesh Bhatt are happy with the talent, skills and confidence of the newcomer.

Talking about the cast of the flick, new faces would be roped in. The original movie had Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal in the lead roles. The makers are now busy in nation wide hunt for the appropriate faces for the movie. When contacted Mahesh Bhatt, the producer confirmed that they are making ‘Aashiqui 2’ with T-Series, who also produced the original film. The producer added that it would be difficult for him to leak out more details on the project.
