Movie Name: Fitoor
Cast: Katrina Kaif, Aditya Roy Kapur and Tabu
Director: Abhishek Kapoor
Running time: 129 minutes
Genre: Romantic Drama
Bollywood Garam Rating: 2/5 stars
Filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor brought an interesting and a passionate love story with a new pair Katrina Kaif and Aditya Roy Kapur. The story is based on Charles Dickens’s novel ‘Great Expectations’.
The movie begins with a cute childhood love story of a 13 year old young Kashmiri boy Noor who falls head over heels with rich and affluent young girl Firdaus. Due to constant bombings and politics in the state, Firdaus’s mother referred as Begum (played by Tabu), sends her daughter abroad for further studies. Years pass and the teenagers grow up to become youngsters and this is when fate brings them once again in front of each other.
The plot might be interesting, but what turns off the audience is the unpredictable story and happenings that leaves the audience with a hope that the conclusion will make things clearer. Tabu plays a confusing character, whose intensions are never understood. Katrina still has to go a long way to improve her blank expressions. Aditya in the movie is the eye candy as he constantly shows off his great body. The only thing that can be appreciated are the dialogues.
Though the story ends on a happy note, but leaves several questions on the mind. Overall, a very slow movie with no entertainment factor in it.
