Lion Premiere in India
Celebrities from Bollywood gathered for the grand premiere of the Australian drama movie ‘Lion’ in Mumbai on February 1, 2017. The movie features Dev Patel, Nicole Kidman and Rooney Mara and was premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, 2016.
The premiere event in India saw the presence of Anupam Kher, Radhika Apte, Anupama Chopra, Ali Fazal, Priyanka Bose, Nushrat Bharucha, Arshad Warsi with wife Maria, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Ayan Mukherjee, Kabir Khan with wife Mini Mathur, Shakun Batra, Vikramaditya Motwane, Monica Dogra and others.
Dev Patel is seen playing the role of Saroo Brierley while Tannishtha is seen playing an important role. Other Indian actors who feature in the movie include Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Pallavi Sharda, Priyanka Bose and Deepti Naval.
The grand premiere in India was made even more special with the presence of the director Garth Davis, who addressed the audience and talked about what went behind the story of Saroo Brierley. Garth Davis at the premiere said, “I hope India likes the film. It’s made with a lot of passion and heart. India has had a huge contribution in making this film and I couldn’t be more happier to be present here at the Indian premiere. Working on Lion has been a great journey”. The movie Lion is based in India and Australia on the real life of Saroo Brierley who has penned down his life story in a novel known as ‘A Long Way Home’. The story is about a five year old boy who loses his way from home far away in Kolkata and was later adopted by an Australian family. 25 years later Saroo is on a quest using Google Earth to find his way back home.
