More than 30,000 runners took part in a range of races last Friday on March 17, 2017, in the seventh annual Jerusalem Winner Marathon. Over 60 countries participated in event which was organised on the 50th anniversary of the reunification of the Israeli city. A rise in recent terror attacks over the last six months couldn’t dim the athlete’s spirits.
The ‘Ultraman’, Milind Soman, competed in this marathon. This doesn’t come as a surprise as this model, actor and sports enthusiast has redefined fitness goals at the age of 51. “This is not just a marathon, it’s a sign that the time has come for me to visit,” quoted Soman at the pre-marathon briefing. Soman getting emotional about his connection with the city states that “whatever I felt that I would feel is really nothing compared to what I feel today”.
He also took to Instagram to share his experience of swimming 400 meters into the Dead Sea! It’s a miraculous feat considering the fact that everything floats like a boat in the dead sea due to it’s high density.
After the marathon, he visited several tourist spots around Jerusalem and swam the Dead Sea with the famous Dead Sea Mud Pack. Owning to the Dead Sea’s high salt contents, it’s mud is believed to have miraculous healing properties.
