Akshay Kumar has just reached another major milestone in his stellar acting career in Bollywood. The winners for the 64th National Film Awards 2017 were announced today, April 7. And Akshay Kumar came out the winner, bagging the award for Best Actor for his role in Rustom.
Bollywood and his fans at large have been flooding him with congratulatory messages on his big win. Akshay then took it upon himself to thank the National Award jury as well as his fans for supporting his work. But he especially thanked his family – his parents and wife, Twinkle Khanna for being his biggest supporters and believing in him. He alsoshared how he was honored and proud to be given the chance to wear the prestigious Indian Navy uniform for his role in Rustom. Posting his personal message of gratitude on YouTube, he poured his heart out and couldn’t stop grinning from ear to ear.
During the video, the National Award winner said, “I’m truly humbled by this honor. I would like to thank the jury and fans for believing in my talent – Rustom has a very special role to play.”
Thanking his loved ones, Akshay Kumar also said, “I would like to dedicate this award to the blessings of my parents and my loving family especially to my lovely wife jo mujhe hamesha mazaak mein kehti hain acha hua tumne award function mein jaana chhod diya kabhi kuch milta toh nahi hain“.
Twinkle Khanna also responded with a funny tweet, congratulating her husband for his ultimate win, even though he’s missed out on other Bollywood awards.
Rustom is a film based on the true story of naval officer K M Nanavati and the case of 1959 that involved the murder of his wife’s secret lover. The film was a brilliant take on extra-marital affairs and relationships in the armed forces.
