Akshay Kumar launches Bharat ke Veer app to support families of soldiers who lost their lives in action

Indian actor Akshay Kumar, launched Bharat Ke Veer app and website at an event in Delhi on April 9, 2017. The event also saw the presence of Home Minister Rajnath Singh along with other members of the CRPF, who also observed Valour Day. The new app launched by Akshay will allow donors to contribute towards families of the Central Para Military Forces / Central Armed Police Force, who lost their lives in action.

The Khiladi star was very emotional during the launch event and shared on Twitter, “Such an Honour to Garland the sacred soil of the Sardar Post on #ValourDay. Launching my dream, #BharatKeVeer as we speak!! Jai Hind. A Day I Found Hard To Hold Back My Tears…Support the families of our Bravehearts #BharatKeVeer Now.”

Akshay got the idea of the app when he was watching a documentary on terrorism and how terror leaders give financial support to the families of terrorists who carry out terror attacks. The Holiday actor thanked the government of India for their support in fulfilling his dream to launch a platform that provided financial help for the families of soldiers who were killed. Akshay had donated Rs. 1.08 crores out of which Rs. 9 Lakh each were given to the families of the 12 Central Reserve Police Force soldiers who were killed during the encounter with Naxalites in Chhattisgarh and Sukma.

On the work front Akshay was last seen in the movie Naam Shabana and has a number of projects in hand to be released in 2017. The actor is currently filming for the movies Toilet Ek Prem Katha which also stars Bhumi Pednekar, 2.0 which also stars Rajinikanth and Padman which is the true story of Arunachalam Muruganantham, who shot to fame by making economic sanitary pads for women.
