IIFA Awards 2017 goes to New York! Here are all the celebrities performing this year
IIFA Awards 2017 will kick off on July 14 and will be a star studded two day long affair
International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) is an award ceremony which honors artistic and technical excellence of professionals in Bollywood. It was started in 2000 and since then, it has been an annual affair. It is a night of glamour, where all Bollywood celebrities walk the red carpet in head turning attires and grab some of the biggest accolades for their hard work each year.
This year IIFA will be held in New York from July 14-15. On July 14, 2017, there will be IIFA Weekend Press Conference and IIFA Rocks Green Carpet and main event of IIFA Rocks. On the second day, the main awards ceremony will be kicked off with a IIFA Awards Green Carpet followed by the ceremony – IIFA Awards Show. This is the first time that IIFA Awards will be held in New York and is being organised at the iconic MetLife Stadium which is known for hosting National Football League Games.
Bollywood celebrities that are going to perform live at IIFA Awards 2017 include Salman Khan, Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif, Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Sushant Singh Rajput and A.R.Rahman.
Commenting on the occasion, Salman Khan says, “It always feels great to be a part of the IIFA movement and I look forward to the IIFA Festival in New York.”
Alia Bhatt, who has never been a part of the award show is really excited for her first performance. “I am very excited to be a part of IIFA 2017. It (IIFA) is all about togetherness and the celebration of the Indian cinema globally and I eagerly look forward to this celebration.” adds the 24 year old actress.
Shahid Kapoor, who had hosted IIFA Awards in 2016, is charged up to perform this time. “I had a great time last year hosting the show. This time around I will be performing at IIFA. I am hoping to give the audiences a power-packed performance.”, he says.
“I doubt I will be performing on my songs, because the films I have done, don’t really have peppy numbers,” says Sushant Singh Rajput.
Kriti Sanon is also looking forward to her very first performance at the IIFA and her first visit to the city.
