The couple heave a sigh of relief after being granted anticipatory bail by Thane Additional Sessions judge
Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra have been granted bail by the Thane Additional Sessions judge on May 20, 2017. The couple was granted bail in the case of cheating filed by a fabric vendor for non-payment of his dues. The supplier had alleged that Raj and Shilpa had failed to pay him Rs. 24 lakhs against the goods that he had supplied for their home shopping site.
Aniket Nikam, an advocate for the Kundra family said, “The judge has granted anticipatory bail to actor Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra. A case under Sections 420 (Cheating) and 406 (Criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against them.” Kundra’s advocate argued that the firm Best Deal TV Private Limited were in a business relationship with the supplier for about a year and that the company has made a payment of more than one crore to the complainant. Nikam added that under such circumstances, it could not be said that the accused had any intention to cheat.
The advocate further argued that the allegations that were made in the FIR filed reflect a dispute between the parties which are civil in nature. Citations were taken from many of the Supreme Court judgements and was concluded that the accessed deserved to be given anticipatory bail.
The Kundras then celebrated their son Viaan Raj Kundra’s 5th birthday party at their residence on May 21, 2017. The party was attended by a few friends and family from the industry with a Masterchef theme. Little Raj was seen dressed as a masterchef as he wore a red kitchen apron for his birthday bash. Raj and Shilpa got married to Raj Kundra on November 22, 2009. Shilpa gave birth to Viaan who was born in 2012.
