Rumors have it that Priyanka Chopra will play the lead role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Amrita Pritam biopic titled, Gustakhiyan. While no official confirmations have been made yet, the fact that Priyanka is coming back home, have fueled rumors that she will be in Mumbai to sign Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film!
Remember the last time Priyanka Chopra was in Mumbai? Her presence not only sparked off rumors of taking on Bollywood projects but was also spotted at Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s office on two occasions. Seems like this time the Bhansali’s first choice for leading lady is Priyanka Chopra and not Deepika Padukone. On her last visit to Mumbai, Priyanka had revealed to Mumbai Mirror in an interview that she is currently in talks with Sanjay Leela Bhansali about a film which has a female protagonist and two male leads. She said, “When we meet, we inevitably discuss work. I can never say no to him and will work with him whenever I get a chance. We are yet to figure out our special next.”
Gustakhiyan is reportedly a biopic on Punjabi poetess, Amrita Pritam and will tell the story of her love with painter Sahir Ludhianvi. For Sahir’s role, names like Shah Rukh Khan and Abhishek Bachchan have come out but nothing is confirmed yet.
On the work front, Priyanka Chopra has a number of films lined up including, A Kid Like Jake in which she stars opposite Jim Parsons and Claire Danes. And Isn’t it Romantic, in which she will be seen sharing screen space Rebel Wilson and Liam Hemsworth. Apart from these projects, she is also slated to start shooting Quantico season 3 towards the end of 2017.
While director Sanjay Leela Bhansali is currently film his ambitious project, Padmavati with Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor. Padmavati releases on November 17, 2017.
