Cast and crew of the upcoming film Lipstick Under My Burkha were in Delhi for the promotions on July 11, 2017. The promotional event saw Ekta Kapoor, Ratna Pathak Shah, Konkana Sen Sharma, Prakash Jha, Ahana Kumra and Plabita Borthakur and director Alankrita Shrivastava. The director during the promotional event talked about the title and said that it refers to the idea that the society cannot kill the passion and dreams of women.
Alankrita said, “Lipstick Under My Burkha is a metaphoric title. It refers to the idea that women will always have a pulsating desire to be free.” The director went on to added that women will continue to dream even if the society tries to put them in to boxes or restrains them and that they cannot end the women’s dreams, ambitions and passion.
The story of the film is about four women and their four separate battles for their freedom. The Film Certification Appellate Tribunal has given an A (adult)certificate for the film and is ready to be released in theatres on July 21, 2017.
