Deepika Padukone’s twirls in new Padmavati song Ghoomar look mesmerising

Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh’s individual looks in their characters that they play in Padmavati has garnered massive attention as did the trailer of the film

In what appears to be a perfectly depicted Rajasthani folk song, Deepika Padukone danced away with some beautiful and breathtaking moves in the new song Ghoomar released for Sanjay Leela Bhansali-helmed film, Padmavati.

Reports suggested that Deepika in this song performed as many as 66 twirls including the ones where she is seen holding diyas in both her hands while wearing heavy gold jewelry and a beautifully red, green and golden lehenga with choli and dupatta worn over her head for a traditional Rajasthani look as Rani Padmini. The song video shows Deepika dancing with several other ladies dressed in traditional attires as Maharana Rawal Ratan Singh (Shahid Kapoor) looks on.

The cinematography and picturization of the song where all the women dancing including Deepika has been brilliantly executed, covering the dance from all angles, especially the aerial view where all the women wear their dupattas over their heads and swirl in coordination.

Shreya Ghoshal and Swaroop Khan have sung the song while the Rajasthani lyrics have been penned by Swaroop Khan. Kruti Mahesh Midya and  Jyothi D Tommaar are the expert choreographers who trained Deepika for the folk dance number.

The Bajirao Mastani actress took to Twitter to talk about the song first and captioned the post: “The Ghoomar Song has to be one of the most difficult yet most fulfilling song sequences I have ever shot for! #GhoomarToday @FilmPadmavati.”

One of the most anticipated and highly-awaited films of this year for its budget, grandeur and visual appeal, Padmavati has also been mired with controversies off late, even as the internet is stormed with Padmavati posters, trailer and now the Ghoomar song, apart from the interviews and social media posts of the lead actors of the film, Deepika (Rani Padmini), Shahid Kapoor (Raja Rawal Ratan Singh – Rani Padmini’s husband) and Ranveer Singh (invader of Chittor, Alauddin Khilji).

The craze over the movie has yet again been established with over 12 million views on YouTube that have been recorded in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, Deepika has been receiving appreciation from inside and outside the industry for essaying the powerful role of Rani Padmini effectively.
