Veteran actor Shashi Kapoor, known for some of the noteworthy films in Bollywood passed away at a hospital in Mumbai at the age of 79 on December 4, 2017. The actor, who has been ill for a long time, breathed his last at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai.
Shashi Kapoor’s nephew and actor, Randhir Kapoor broke the news and said, “Shashi Kapoor passed away at 5.15 pm. We all very sad about it. He had kidney problems”. Members of the Delhi International Film Festival observed a two minute silence to pay tribute to the veteran star.
The actor was diagnosed with chest infection in 2014 and was then admitted to the Intensive care unit at the hospital after he complained of severe cough and breathlessness. Shashi Kapoor had earlier undergone a bypass surgery.
Kapoor is a recipient of the Padma Bhushan award in 2011 by the hands of the President Pratibha Patil. Shadhi Kapoor is the brother of Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor. Celebrities from Bollywood were seen arriving at the Kapoor residence to offer condolences.
