Celebrities from Bollywood turned up for the prayer meet of actress Shammi in Mumbai on March 8, 2018. The attendees of the prayer meet included Dimple Kapadia, Jaya Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Farida Jalal, Farah Khan, Renuka Shahane, Waheeda Rehman, Asha Parekh, Poonam Sinha, Aruna Irani, Tina Ambani, Kiran Rao, Prem Chopra, Poonam Dhillon and others.
Actress Shammi was fondly known as Shammi Aunty in the industry and has had a career spanning five decades and has worked in more than 400 films. During her later years, the health of the actress deteriorated and worsened after the death of her sister a few years back.
Shammi began her career in the film Ustad Pedro before making her debut as a solo heroine in Malhar. The actress passed away in her sleep on March 6, 2018 due to natural causes at the age of 88.
