Ranveer Singh is all set to be seen in the upcoming film Gully Boy, which is one of the most anticipated movies of 2019. The film also stars Alia Bhatt and is inspired from the lives of the rappers Divine and Naezy. The Bajirao Mastani star was snapped with the rappers Divine and Naezy at a recording studio in Mumbai on January 17, 2019.
The actor and the rappers were snapped posed together and proved to be a treat for the paparazzi with their expressions and attitude. Ranveer will be playing the role of a rapper in the upcoming Zoya Akhtar flick and the film will be narrating the underground rap scene in Mumbai. Gully Boy also stars Kalki Koechlin and will be premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival.
Rapper Divine who is also known as Vivian Fernandez had in an interview shared, “This (Gully Boy) is the story of hip-hop and hip-hop from the gully. This is the story of all of us.” The rapper also revealed, “Zoya reached out to me in 2016 after seeing one of my gigs, and she wanted to turn this idea, the rise of gully hip-hop into a film. If it helped my message reach more people… I was on-board with that.”
The rapper shared that he is thrilled that Ranveer is a part of the film which is about the underground hip hop in Mumbai. Ranveer was last seen in the film Simmba which also starred Sara Ali Khan and did a great business at the box office. On the personal front, the actor is enjoying a married life with wife Deepika Padukone.
