Indian music composer M.M. Keeravani created history after magnificent win at the Oscar for the song Naatu Naatu from the film RRR by SS Rajamouli. The Academy Award the Best Song was announced at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on March 12, 2023. The lyrics of the song have been penned down by Chandrabose who was also present at the awards show and has been composed by Keeravani.

The awards night was also witnessed by the leading men Ram Charan and Jr. NTR who watched the ceremony from the front-row balcony seats. Ram Charan’s wife Upasana Konidela managed to capture the winning moment as the leading men of RRR hugged while Keeravani and Chandrabose took the stage to accept their award. Upasana posted the video and captioned it “We Won”. The Indian entrepreneur also said that she was one who screamed in the audience when the song was declared as the winner.

On the other hand Keeravani, while addressing the media said that it is just the beginning of everything. The song has become the first one from an Indian film to earn a nomination and win the title of Best Original Song. Keeravan, during his acceptance speech won the hearts of the Academy Awards audience by saying that he grew up listening to The Carpenters.

Talking about the song, it is one of the most memorable sequences from the film RRR. The track also managed to garner more than 122 million views on YouTube. Naatu Naatu song had also inspired a TikTok challenge with millions of users who attempted to recreate the hook step. Chandrabose expressed that he is eager to show the award to his wife and children. The lyricist also spoke about the challenges while writing the song in a language that has 56 letters. Efforts by the filmmakers and musicians have indeed paid off and history has been created by winning an Academy Award.
