BollywoodGaram.com: Winner of the 2013 Miss Asia Pacific World pageant Srishti Rana recently returned to India. Upon her arrival at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai, the model’s crown – which she obtained after winning the pageant – was seized by the custom officials at the airport and was found to be fake.
The officials said that according to the Indian law of customs, a crown which is won at a beauty pageant is not exempted from the customs duty, due to which Rana was asked to pay customs on the crown according to its value. However, when the valuer was called for an estimate, to everyone’s shock, the crown was found to be fake.
Reports say that the crown features gems which are made out of glass and the metal used on it was some ordinary substance. As the crown was found to be fake, Srishti was allowed to leave with her crown without paying any customs duty on it. Rana landed in Mumbai from Busan in South Korea and has become the latest beauty from India to claim the title, which was previously won by veteran Zeenat Aman and actress Dia Mirza.
Srishti also became the second consecutive winner of the title from India and left behind 49 other contestants in the pageant, which was held in South Korea on October 30, 2013.
