Fans and family bid farewell to the legend Dev Anand

Bollywood Garam: The favorite actor of thousands of fans, Dev Anand was waved a final good bye on December 10, 2011 in London. The actor, who died on December 4, 2011 was cremated at the Putney Vale Crematorium amidst thousands of fans and close family members.

Anand was cremated according to the traditional Hindu rites and the funeral service was attended by a huge crowd. The body of the actor was wrapped in a casket and flowers.

Wife Kalpana Karthik could not make it to the funeral as she was suffering from high blood pressure. The funeral was attended by son Suniel, daughter Devina and Anand’s sister Bonnie Sareen.

Moreover, the ceremony was also attended by the High Commissioner of India Rakesh Prasad as well as his close friend Kartar Lalvani, Baroness Shreela and Lord Karan Billimoria. Suniel said that he is comforted that he is with the Lord and the spirit of Dev Anand will live forever. A grand memorial service will be held in Mumbai on December 15. Dev Anand was 88 years old and breathed his last in London after he suffered a cardiac arrest. The actor is remembered for his numerous contributions as a romantic hero in the Indian film industry.
