Celebrating his brand’s 10th anniversary in India Tommy Hilfiger (the man who lends his name to the label) hosted an exclusive press event along with Bollywood fashionista Sonam Kapoor at New Delhi’s Tommy Hilfiger Select Citywalk store on September 29, 2014.
The 63-year-old fashion industry icon was in India for a 3 day official visit – September 26-28, 2014.
Bollywood’s darling Sonam Kapoor looked her chic self in a Tommy Hilfiger creation – a plunging v-neck black jumpsuit paired with a gold-bling choker. The neatly done up hair and bright red lip colour added just the right dash of style.
To honor the brand’s decade long presence in India, Hilfiger unveiled two limited-edition Indian inspired couture pieces – a shawl for women and a traditional men’s bandi. The two garments were a perfect example of the brand’s fusion style.
Praising the fashion genius, Sonam said, “I am excited to be here with Tommy to celebrate his brand’s 10th anniversary in India, Tommy’s signature preppy with a twist style and Americana inspirations are iconic – his collections are always undeniably classic, American and cool.”
Hilfiger also spoke about his long standing love and adoration for traditional Indian textiles and fabrics, “Indian fashion has stayed close to my heart ever since I came here first, hence I keep using something, especially the handworks in my outfits,” said Tommy.
The designer looked suave in a fitting suit and interacted with the media at great length.
