Sharma’s journey with lyrics started off in 1952 with ‘Jaggu’ and remained active till 2007 when he did ‘Yatra’. The lyricist had started with writing stage plays and was introduced to actor Ram Mohan who was an assistant to actor-director Jagdish Sethi. Lyallpuri was then introduced to Sethi who asked him to pen down some songs for his upcoming movie after listening to his poetry.
During his lifetime, he was a great influencer of current music producers in the industry. His legend lives on in our hearts and minds, and the music he left behind.
Some of his remarkable works included ‘Agar teri Ankhon Se Ankhein Mila Doon’ which was sung by Asha Bhonsle. After success in films, the lyricist was also introduced to TV serials and was asked to write lyrics for the Hindi TV series ‘Shrikant’.
