Padma Lakshmi debuts on Indian ramp
Indian-American super model Padma Lakshmi, made her debut on an Indian ramp as she walked for designer Tarun Tahiliani on Day 4 of the Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2017 in Mumbai on February 4, 2017. Lakshmi was wearing an ivory colored embellished sari with a cape from Tahiliani’s latest collection with the title ‘Chashme Shahi’.
The model expressed that she was nervous on her debut on the event and “It’s been a long time, years in fact, since I’ve been on the runway”. The ramp for Tahiliani’s show was decked up with jasmine flowers. The collection from the designer had creams, whites, jade, beige and black with some splash of colors.
The ramp saw saris, kalidar lehengas and kurtas with French knots and Swarovski crystals. Tarun while talking about his latest collection said, “Inspired by Mughal gardens and architecture, the Spring Summer collection aptly titled Chashme Shahi reveals clothes that transform into a breathtaking aria of fantasy and romance. Representing the ateliers timeless craft combined with a modern muse, skilfully presented in an array of elegant cool garments to create an offering reminiscent of summer and all that it brings with it.”
Padma Lakshmi in the past has ramp walked for some of the international names like ‘Giorgio Armani, Gianni Versace and Ralph Lauren. The model while closing the shoe changed in to a pretty delicate pink lehenga with a shirt choli in the same color. Lakshmi was all praises for the designer and concluded that Tarun’s designs are always for a special occasion.
