The legendary Bollywood actor, Rishi Kapoor was awarded the prestigious Rotary Shyam Munshi lifetime achievement award by Rotary Club of Bombay today on February 7, 2017. The award function was held at Taj Palace, Mumbai around 1 pm and was attended by several dignitaries. He received the award for his exemplary contributions to Indian Cinema.
The actor looked great in a blue suit as he received the award and also interacted with the audience.
A few other awards were given away by the Rotary Club of Bombay to people from various walks of life –
Somchand Parikh Award, for Best Teacher was given to Ms. M. Isaacs.
Ramkrishna Bajaj Award, for Good Governance was presented to Mr. Deepak Parekh.
Taru Lalvani Environmental Protection Award, was given to Ms. Maneka Gandhi for her unparalleled contributions towards environmental conservation.
Rishi made his debut in Bollywood as a child actor with the movie ‘Shree 420’in the year 1955 and “Mera Naam Joker” in the year 1970. The actor made his debut as the adult lead with the blockbuster movie ‘Bobby’ which also starred Dimple Kapadia in 1973. Rishi has been active in the industry for more than four decades now. However, this is not the first time the actor has been honoured with a lifetime achievement award. The actor was honoured with a lifetime Achievement Award by Filmfare in the year 2008.
Apart from this achievement, the actor was last seen on screens in the movie Kapoor n sons directed by Shakun Batra and produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar, and Apoorva Mehta under the banners of Dharma Productions and Fox Star Studios.
The ‘Do Dooni Chaar’ actor recently released his book ‘Khullam Khulla: Rishi Kapoor Uncensored’ which is a biography based on the life and career of the star.
Rishi, during his career has worked in some of the noteworthy movies including ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’, ‘Jhoota Kahin Ka’, ‘Karz’, ‘Prem Rog’, ‘Bade Dilwala’, ‘Saagar’ ‘Nagina’, ‘Chandni’, ‘Yeh Hai Jalwa’, ‘Kuch Toh hai’, ‘Hum Tum’, ‘Pyaar Mein Twist’, ‘Fanaa’ and others.
