Shetty family mourns the death of Patriarch Virappa Shetty

Actor Suniel Shetty’s father Virappa Shetty passed Away on March 1, 2017 at the age of 93. Friends and colleagues of Suniel from the film fraternity turned up at Shetty’s residence to offer condolences.

Virappa Shetty’s funeral on March 2, 2017 was attended by several industry personalities including Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood, Sooraj Pancholi, Jackie Shroff and others.

Family members Suniel, Ahan Shetty and Mana Shetty were seen thanking the media members for their support. Suniel’s daughter Athiya Shetty is currently abroad shooting for the upcoming project ‘Mubarakan’. Suniel’s father passed away at 1:30 am on March 1, 2017 at the Breach Candy Hospital.

Virappa Shetty was a self made hotelier and is survived by his wife, son Suniel and daughter Sujata.

Suniel Shetty IN AN EARLIER INTERVIEW SAID, “I HAVEN’T HAD A PROPER NIGHT’S SLEEP FOR THREE MONTHS NOW. IT’S A VERY MIXED KIND OF FEELING FOR ME. ON ONE HAND, MY DAUGHTER ATHIYA IS GETTING READY FOR HER FILM CAREER. ON THE OTHER HAND MY FATHER IS VERY UNWELL. SO THE EXCITEMENT OF AATHIYA’S DEBUT IS SADLY DIMINISHED. AT THE MOMENT WE’RE ALL FOCUSING ON LOOKING AFTER MY FATHER.”

Reports revealed that late Virappa had suffered from a massive paralytic stroke in 2013 after which an ICU set up was made at his residence in Mumbai. Suniel had reportedly taken a break from his acting career to take care of his ailing father. The ‘Dhadkan’ actor continued to take care of the booming hotel business. Suniel is currently a part of an upcoming movie ‘Hera Pheri 3’.
