Shah Rukh Khan will take the international stage this week for TED; to host a social awareness show later this year

A man of many talents, Shah Rukh Khan can add one more feather to his metaphorical cap. The Bollywood Badshah is gearing up to hit the educational stage. He’s signed on to do an exclusive TED talk this week!

Juliet Blake, the woman who is responsible for curating inspirational figures to give TED talks posted about the superstar’s upcoming speaking gig on her Twitter account. She simply said, “Very excited to introduce @iamsrk to the TED stage this week.” The announcement is attached to an image of SRK with the lady herself. Of course, Shah Rukh Khan is a little nervous about his latest role, and tweeted back, “Looking forward to it and I hope I remember my speech!”

The introduction to the star taking the TED stage on their website reads: “With a fan following that runs into multi-millions, and 24 million followers on Twitter, Shah Rukh Khan is at forefront of the Indian film industry and continues to rule at the box office in India. One of the world’s biggest movie stars, Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan is also an entrepreneur and inspired philanthropist. He heads the film production company Red Chillies Entertainments, whose Chennai Express was the highest grossing film of 2013, and his recent film, Raees also topped the box office in India. He’s also the proud co-owner of two cricket franchises, the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Trinbago Knight Riders.”

The introduction continues, “As a philanthropist and spokesperson, Khan stands up for causes ranging from the environment and water-supply issues to rural solar power. Khan;s non-profit, Meer Foundation, named for his father, focuses on supporting victims of acid attacks through a 360-degree approach that helps with medical treatment, legal aid, rehabilitation and livelihood support.”

The star is set to host a show later this year called TED Talks India: Nayi Soch which will be done in Hindi and broadcast on Star India. It is a great way to get exposure for India on an international platform like TED. He will be following in the footsteps of Aamir Khan, who had hosted the mega-hit series, Satyamev Jayate.
