Gurmeet Chaudhary and Debina Banerjee to give two underprivileged girls a home
TV actors Gurmeet Chaudhary and Debina Banerjee have set an example by announcing that they are adopting two girls, aged six and nine years. Gurmeet said that everyone kept asking him when he is planning to have a baby and now he has announced that he is bringing home two daughters.
Gurmeet and Debina got married in 2011 and are now ready to adopt Pooja and Lata, who are both minors, aged six and nine respectively. Reports say that Gurmeet and Debina met the girls when they were in Jarampur for a family wedding. Jarampur is Gurmeet’s hometown, where his parents are settled. Pooja lives with her uncle and first cousin, Lata in Jarampur.
Lata’s father reportedly passed away a year ago and since then, both the girls moved in with a distant relative. Gurmeet’s mother was the one who realized about the condition of the girls who would probably have to work as domestic helps for survival. Gurmeet, in an interview said, “After hearing about their plight from my mother, I discussed them with my wife. Debina agreed with me that it was time to give the kids a home, a deserving education and my last name.” The actor also informed that all the paperwork is done and that they will soon be going to Jarampur for the final signatures after Holi festival.
Gurmeet added that it is a two-day process and that after one academic year they will shift with them in their Andheri home by 2018. The actor also said that his brother and his family currently reside in Patna and they will take care of them and make sure that they are well cared for. Gurmeet revealed that he will be travelling to Patna along with his wife three to four times a year and stay there through their summer vacations. The actor also clarified that they also plan to have their own children in future and they will be siblings to Lata and Pooja.
