This is the official first look of Begum Jaan starring Vidya Balan
Bollywood veteran actress Vidya Balan is considered as one of the top talents in the industry with numerous hits and awards to her name. Her performing prowess cannot be compared, at least with this generation’s lead actors, entertaining though they may be. The ‘Kahaani’ actress is now in the news for her look in her latest movie, ‘Begum Jaan’ by Srijit Mukherjee.
In the film, Vidya Balan will be seen playing the role of the lady of a brothel. The first look of the movie sees Vidya making a bold statement with her sense of fashion, dialogue and overall on-screen persona. The upcoming Bollywood film is an adaptation of Srijit’s ‘Rajkahani’ which had Rituparna Sengupta in the lead role.
The original movie was a story of Rajkahani who dealt with the trauma of displaced women in a brothel, after the partition of the country. The tagline to the movie in the official poster states boldly: “My Body, My House, My Country, My Rules”.
There were many prominent personalities from the industry who praised Vidya Balan for her look in the film. Acclaimed filmmaker, Mahesh Bhatt even tweeted: “What a woman! She will take u to a place in your heart to which u will never go.” (sic)
The action drama flick also stars Ila Arun, Gauahar Khan, Pallavi Sharda and Priyanka Sethi, among others. One of the lead cast of the film is the legendary Naseeruddin Shah. The supremely talented actor and Balan have acted before in the celebrated film, ‘Ishqiya’.
‘Begum Jaan’ is produced by Mahesh Bhatt, Vishesh Bhatt and Play Entertainment and is all set to hit theatres on April 4, 2017.
