Indonesian designer Novita Yunis presents Bumi Lagit collection at Amazon India Fashion Week
The Amazon India Fashion Week ’17 started off at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on March 15, 2017. The first day saw about 71 designers, who showcased their designs from different parts of India. Indonesian designer Novita Yunus presented her collection on day one to promote Jakarta Fashion Week.
The collection by the designer showed techniques in eco print and batik and was named Bumi Lagit, which means Earth and Sky. The designer used colors of autumn leaves during winter. The word Bumi was represented by falling leaves while Langit was represented by Surya Majapahit, which means The Sun of Kingdom of Majapahit. It was a special show, which was a part of Fashion Design Council of India’s partnership with the Jakarta Fashion Week to encourage cultural exchange of design talent between both the platforms.
The collection saw palazzos, kaftans with embroidered kebayas. The opening day was exclusively dedicated to handlooms and textiles. It was presented by students of The Handloom School, who are being supported by some of the top Indian fashion designers and labels like Neetu Kumar, Rohit Bal, Sanjay Garg, Suket Dhir and Eleven Eleven.
