Akshay Kumar would choose to play K Vijay Kumar in a movie on Veerappan
Akshay Kumar is so inspired by K Vijay Kumar, the police officer responsible for the death of sandalwood smuggler, Veerappan, that he now wants to play him on the big screen. The actor was at the book launch of Veerappan – Chasing The Brigand written by K Vijay Kumar himself.
Kumar was the head of the Special Task Force team that ended the rule of the terrorist, Veerappan along the Karnataka-Tamil Nadu state borders. Back in 2004, he was killed in an encounter by the STF, led by the genius of Kumar.
Akshay Kumar won the National Film Award this year for his portrayal of KM Nanavati, a naval officer, for Rustom. It would definitely suit him to now play a police officer if a movie about the encounter comes to fruition. Akshay was asked about whether he’d like to play a crucial role in any upcoming movie based on the book, and he said, “Both Veerappan and Vijay Kumar’s characters are really interesting but I would love to play the role of Vijay Kumar because the whole planning has been done by him and how brilliantly he executed the entire operation.”
Akshay Kumar has been busy with a number of films that have been and will be released this year. Naam Shabana did well at the box office with Taapsee Pannu in the lead. He is also working on Toilet: Ek Prem Katha that will release later this year. Another great film that he did was Jolly LLB 2 that turned out to be a major hit. Currently, he is shooting for Padman which also stars Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor. The film is being produced by wife Twinkle Khanna’s very first home production, Mrs. Funny Bones Movies.
