Filmmakers of the Indian Film and Television Directors Association have come together to protest against the CBFC for the repetitive cuts that it makes in almost every film.
The film Babumoshai Bandookbaaz got an ‘A’ certificate from the CBFC, who have also demanded 48 cuts from the film. However, the makers have revolted saying if they were giving an ‘A’ what was the need for the cuts. Lead actors Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Bidita Bag along with other filmmakers came together and interacted with the media about the ongoing struggle between the makers and the CBFC. Producers of Babumoshai Bandookbaaz have challenged the decision of Pahlaj Nihlani of demanding 48 cuts from the film.
Nawazuddin while talking to the media said, “The situation is such that I have to count my words. When conditions like these arise, the producers feel scary while improvising as there is no creative freedom.” There were also reports that the members of the CBFC were rude and abusive towards the director and the producer for making such a film.
