Sonam Kapoor is not just promoting her upcoming film Padman but is also spreading awareness about menstrual hygiene among young girls. The actress joined hands with director R. Balki and distributed sanitary pads among young school girls in Mumbai on January 21, 2018.
Sonam and R. Balki received a traditional welcome at a school and were seen distributing sanitary pads among the girls for free. The Mausam actress looked gorgeous in a silver kurta and matching wide legged pants. Sonam during an earlier media interaction talked about her experience and said, “I was 15 when I got my periods and all my friends had got that way before me. I was very upset that I had not got it. So when I actually got it I was very relieved because I kept telling my parents there is something wrong with me as I did not get my periods. So, I was very very happy.”
The film has Akshay Kumar playing the lead as Arunachalam Muruganantham, who invented low-cost sanitary napkins for women in the rural area who could not afford sanitary napkins. Akshay recently announced that the film Padman will be released on February 9, 2018 instead of clashing with the controversial film Padmaavat directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
The Khiladi star had hosted a press event with Bhansali, to announce that Padmaavat will get an individual release on January 25, 2018. Padman is directed by R Balki and is produced by Twinkle Khanna under the production banner Mrs. Funnybones Productions.
