Bollywood movie ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ hit the theaters on September 6, 2013 and has already earned Rs. 31.27 crore in just five days. The movie is said to have a bigger budget for print and publicity than it had for the production.
The Sushant Singh Rajput starrer movie opened to a decent collection of Rs. 6.45 crore on September 6, 2013 and has picked up with time. On Saturday, September 7, 2013, the movie earned Rs. 7.9 crore and Rs. 8.92 crore on Sunday, September 8, 2013. The movie has two debutants, Sushant Singh Rajput – who is known for his role of Manav in the popular TV series ‘Pavitra Rishta’ – and Vaani Kapoor.
On Monday, September 9, 2013, ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ moved towards earning Rs. 4.79 crore at the ticket windows, while the earning on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 stood at Rs. 3.21 crore. The weekend collections were very good for the movie. Trade analyst Amod Mehra said, “They also released the film in limited screens. Out of 1,100 screens, 994 were with multiplexes, so there were only a few single screens showing the film.”
Mehra went on to say that the collections of the movie proved to be good and on the first day itself it made Rs. 6 crore and Rs. 7 crore on the second day. The figure went up to Rs. 8 crore on Sunday, September 8, 2013.
