Bollywood actor Vinod Khanna passed away at the age of 70 in April 2017. The 65th National Film Awards ceremony saw the presence of Akshaye Khanna and his mother Kavita Daftari at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi on May 3, 2018. Late actor Vinod Khanna was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
The award was presented by President Ram Nath Kovind and Information and Broadcasting and Textiles Minister Smriti Irani. Akshaye while talking about the honor received for his father said, “We are really proud as a family. It is a bittersweet moment for us. I wish my father was here to receive this award. I am missing him. It is an emotional day for us.”
Vinod Khanna passed away due to bladder cancer at the age of 70 and was last seen in the film Dilwale in which he played the role of Shah Rukh Khan’s father. Akshaye during the awards ceremony was snapped in a formal black suit while mother Kavita was seen in a traditional sari.
