Indian cricketer Virat Kohli and wife Anushka Sharma have also come forward to pledge their support towards the Prime Minister and Maharashtra Chief Minister’s relief funds to deal with the ongoing coronavirus outbreak in India. Virat Kohli in recent times has constantly been posting videos about maintaining social distancing through social media.
Virat and Anushka have not specified as to how much they will be contributing, but their efforts are surely appreciable in the time of crisis. The cricketer in a Tweet expressed that their hearts broke when they saw the plight of the people suffering due to the lockdown and hope that their contribution would help people in need.
Apart from Virat Kohli, a number of sportsmen have also come forward to contribute towards the fight with coronavirus. Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar also donated Rs. 50 lakhs and cricketer Suresh Raina also contributed Rs. 52 lakhs. Indian Badminton player PV Sidhu, Sprinter Hima Das and wrestler Bajrang Punia also came forward to contribute towards the cause.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India, also known as the BCCI has made one of the biggest contribution with Rs. 51 crores towards the Prime Minister Relief Fund. The number of positive cases in India is not overwhelming but the current lockdown situation is helping to bring the numbers in control.
