Bollywood Garam: Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja has been granted bail by the High Court, but had to spend one more day in jail. The principal judge in the session’s court had refused to accept a cash bail of Rs. 50,000 and had also asked for a surety as part of the verification process.

The Indian session court had asked for a clarification if the cash bail could be accepted. The High Court in the bail had mentioned, ‘the same bail as granted to him earlier and fresh bond’.

The “Woh Lamhe” actor has been sentenced to imprisonment after he had allegedly raped his maid at home. The person who had initially stood as a surety had stepped back and this was when Ahuja’s wife Anupam came in as a surety.

Anupam produced a fresh solvency certificate in the court, but the court said that he would send it for verification to the tehsildar who had issued the certificate to Anupam on demand. Anupam has then reportedly visited the Oshiwara police station in Mumbai, India to verify her address. The investigation officer will then submit the report to the court on Friday. According to the lawyers, the actor can challenge the delay of his release in the court as many previous judgments have stated that the bail bonds must be accepted immediately as the verification could take some time.
