Miss India 2016, Roshmitha Harimurthy had the honor of representing India at Miss Universe 2016 this year
This year India was represented by Miss India 2016 Roshmitha Harimurthy, who was incidentally, born in the same year that Sushmita Sen won her Miss Universe crown in (1994)!
She worked hard on preparing for the coveted beauty pageant since she was crowned Yamaha Fascino Miss Diva 2016, chosen by a judges panel which included former beauty queen and actress Lara Dutta, model turned actor Arjun Rampal, actor Abhay Deol, actress Aditi Rao Hydari and fashion designer Gaurav Gupta.
The 22 year old girl from Bengaluru is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in International Business and loves reading, dancing, swimming and gardening, in her free time.
Recently, Lara Dutta, who was the last Indian to win the Miss Universe crown in 2000, rooted for Roshmitha Hairmurthy with a tweet, “This is a girl I believe in, now it’s time for you to make her win. Tweet Miss Universe India to vote! India, it’s time to stand united and vote”.
Roshmitha, however, failed to make it to the top 13 this year and returned disappointed.

1. The Backstage Look
The beauty queen was clicked backstage, prepping for the main event of the night on January 29. She even smiled for the cameras, although we can tell you for sure that she was a bit nervous, like all other contestants!
Roshmitha even indulged in clicking a selfie backstage!
2. The Red Carpet Look
Miss India 2016, Roshmitha Harimurthy happily posed away with all her fellow contestants at Miss Universe 2016 and gave them some stiff competition in the stunning Red Gown!
3. The Swimsuit Look
As a part of the competition, all 86 contestants were required to sport various looks throughout the competition, ranging from the evening gown look, to national costume look and a swimsuit look! See some of her stunning pictures from the round –

4. The National Costume Round Look
Being a girl from Bengaluru, Roshmitha had to go with a mix of traditional south indian colors mixed with modern flavors. Her complete looks was a killer combination of traditional and contemporary as the cuts, bright colors, accessories and headgear, everything fell into perfect sync.
5. The Evening Gown Look from the Question Round
If you’ve seen the Miss Universe Pageant at least once, you will know that the question-answer round comes with the most weightage as it’s not only about the looks – it’s about beauty with brains. And Miss India 2016, Roshmitha Harimurthy stood as a perfect testament of the same in that gorgeous black evening gown with floral prints and with her witty responses.
