Sidharth Malhotra inaugurates National Inclusion Cup
Young Bollywood star Sidharth Malhotra inaugurated the National Inclusion Cup in Mumbai on February 13, 2017. Sidharth was seen supporting the cause of empowering the country’s underprivileged youth through the medium of sports. The actor for the initiative has joined hands with Sony Picture Networks India and an NGO ‘Slum Soccer’.
The National Inclusion Cup is the only football tournament on the national level for the underprivileged children in India. Teams from different states of the country including Maharashtra, Assam, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Vidharbha, Orissa, Delhi, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and participating in the five-day tournament to be held in Mumbai.
Many of the local non-profit organizations like Cequin, Dream a Dream, Oscar, Khelduar, Jeet Foundation, Childreach International, Karmic Foundation and others have also been invited to bring their teams in the tournament. Malhotra at the event said, “Everyone is equal in sport irrespective of your background. I truly believe in Nelson Mandela’s saying that ‘Sports has the power to change the world’. This is a very exciting and empowering initiative and I really hope that our Slum Soccer team wins the world cup for us and makes India proud.”
After the tournament comes to an end, the finals teams with 8 men and 8 women players each will participate at the 15th Homeless World Cup in Oslo, Norway, while representing India. The International tournament is due to be held from August 29 to September 5, 2017. On the work front, Sidharth was last seen in the movie ‘Baar Baar Dekho’ and is currently filming for the upcoming movie ‘Reloaded’.
