Arjun Rampal has kick started the promotions of his upcoming film, Daddy. The actor was accompanied by director Ashim Ahluwalia at an event in Mumbai on August 2, 2017.
Daddy is an upcoming political crime drama which is based on the popular gangster turned politician Arun Gawli who was fondly known as Daddy. Arjun will be seen playing the lead role of Arun while south actress Aishwarya Rajesh will be seen playing the role of his wife Asha Gawli. An official teaser of the film was released on December 1, 2016 and the trailer was launched on June 13, 2017.
The film also stars Nishikant Kamat, Anand Ingale, Shrikant Yadav, Vijay Sanap and Abhimanyu Arun. Gawli was a known name in Mumbai Underworld during the 70s and had joined the Byculla Company which was a criminal gang led by Rama Naik and Babu Reshim. Gawli at a point had taken over the gang after Rama was killed in a police encounter and began operating from his residence. The film is scheduled to be released on September 8, 2017.
