Bollywood Garam: As Bollywood actress Genelia D’Souza prepares for the big day on February 3, 2012, fashion designer Ritu Kumar has designed the perfect wedding outfit for the actress. The news is that the designer has turned away from the regular heavy glittery work which is usual in an Indian wedding and has opted to keep it simple yet elegant for Genelia.
Kumar is known for blending tradition with modernity and uses the rich olden traditions for the bridal collection. The designer wanted to make something that would not overshadow the vivacious personality of the actress.
Ritu Kumar designed two outfits for Riteish Deshmukh’s bride. For the wedding day, Kumar has designed a lehenga and choli in gold and indigo blue. The blouse will be made of indigo blue velvet with antique ‘dhapka’ embroidery while the lehenga has antique gold weaving with ‘zardozi’ embroidery.
The other outfit designed by Ritu Kumar will be black net Anarkali suit with multi panelled layers, which the star will be wearing for the mehndi ceremony. For the sangeet ceremony, Genelia wore a Manish Malhotra creation in white with silver work. The ‘Janne Tu..’ actress has also got a few other dresses for the post and pre-wedding from her designer friend Sidney Sladen from Chennai.
The couple made their Bollywood debut back in 2003 with Tujhe Meri Kasam and have been reportedly secretly dating since back then.
