The weekend has tuned well for Bollywood, with two major movies ABCD (Anybody Can Dance) and ‘Special 26’ receiving a good response at the box office. ‘Special 26’ by Neeraj Pandey received good reviews as well as good collections, while Remo D’souza’s ABCD was also appreciated by all.
Even though the movie ‘Special 26’ started off on a slow note, it slowly picked up the pace along the way and the weekend collections for the movie stood at Rs. 22.74 crore. ABCD collected Rs. 14.91 crores from Friday to Sunday as well.
Other movies like ‘Vishwaroopam’ and ‘David’ raked in Rs. 10.97 crores and Rs. 3.30 crores respectively. However, the second weekend collections for both these movies were not available. Atul Mohan, a trade analyst said it was not often that movies releasing on the same day get equal attention and one of them would generally suffer.
However, both ABCD and ‘Special 26’ have been doing well so far and are also being appreciated by the audience. Moreover, the flicks have also managed to survive Monday screenings and there are hopes that they would continue through to another weekend. Another trade analyst Amol Mehra said that ABCD is now the official surprise hit of the year.
