Watch Love, Life and Screw Ups to catch Zeenat Aman’s first song
Veteran actress Zeenat Aman is making her first appearance on the digital platform in the newly released web series Love, Life and Screw Ups. It also marks Zeenat’s singing debut, with her voice featuring in the show’s title track. She was initially reluctant to perform the song, as she isn’t a trained singer, but the director convinced her to give it a try. She enjoyed the recording process and is fond of the track, which she describes as slightly sensual and fun.
Director Kapil Kaustubh Sharma says that Zeenat’s character in the series, Joanna, is a combination of the actor’s full of life roles in films such as Yaadon Ki Baraat,
Heera Panna and Manoranjan. He felt it was important for her to capture that nostalgic essence by singing the song to introduce her character. He promised her that they would not use her voice if it didn’t sound right after the recording, and would get it dubbed by a professional singer, but Zeenat wowed everyone by performing the song perfectly in the very first take. Composer Nikhil Kamath said he was overwhelmed and surprised by the quality of Zeenat’s voice, and the energy that she brought to the studio.
It is the first time Zeenat Aman can be heard singing in her storied career that spans across five decades. At a recent press meet, she said that Priyanka Chopra would be the ideal choice to play her in an autobiographical film about her life. While she revealed that a producer had approached her about making such a biopic, Zeenat isn’t sure if she is ready for it yet.
Her latest project, Love, Life and Screw Ups is a feel-good romantic comedy that also stars Mita Vashisht, Dolly Thakore, Yuvraaj Parashar, Sushant Divgikar, Diandra Soares and Sonali Raut. You can catch the web series on Aum Web Studio’s YouTube Channel.
