Bollywood Garam: The underworld is again knocking on the doors of Bollywood. This time, popular producer Yash Chopra has been targeted. Chopra states that Rs. 50 lakhs has been reportedly demanded by gangster Ravi Pujari, as protection money.
The “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” producer has also received threat calls from the gangster himself, after which Chopra had written a letter to the Zonal DCP about the matter. After the threats, Chopra got ample protection from the police. The police had said that the gangsters called the producer at the landline number of his office to demand the money.
Many times, the person who called had claimed that he was Ravi Pujari himself. After being tired of the threatening calls, Chopra then called the cops, where two constables have been deployed outside the office of Yash Raj Films.
However, this is not the first time Bollywood has been targeted by the underworld. Earlier, film makers like Ravi Kapoor and Mahesh Bhatt too have received threat calls from the same gang. Bollywood actress Ayesha Takia’s husband, Farhan Azmi has also received threat calls.
When the YRF office was contacted, the spokesperson denied the news, but it was confirmed by the Additional Commisioner of Police. Meanwhile, Yash Chopra wasn’t available for comments.
