The demise of Shashi Kapoor came as a blow to the entire Kapoor family. The veteran star passed away on December 4, 2017 after prolonged illness at the age of 79. All the members of the Kapoor family gathered and organized a prayer meet in remembrance of the star on December 7, 2017.
Apart from the family members, the prayer meet also saw the presence of other members from the film fraternity. The family posed together in front of a huge picture of Shashi Kapoor at Prithvi theatre. The prayer meet saw the presence of Randhir Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor along with Shashi kapoor’s sons Karan and Kunal.
Shashi’s death was mourned by the entire film fraternity and the Kapoors were inconsolable during the last rites. One of the videos showed Shah Rukh Khan consoling Rajiv Kapoor. Shashi Kapoor was honoured by the Padma Bhushan by the government of India as well as the Dadasaheb Phalke ward and three other National Films Awards.
Other attendees of the prayer meet included Rani Mukherji, Rekha, Soni Razdan and others.
