The much awaited Amitabh Bachchan and Aayushmann Khurrana starrer Gulabo Sitabo will now be released on Amazon Prime Video. The announcement was made by the platform which said that the global premiere of the film will be done on June 12, 2020. The film is directed by Shoojit Sircar and will be available across 200 countries and territories across the globe.
Vijay Subramaniam, the director and head of content at Amazon Prime Video, India said that Gulabo Sitabo is one of the most anticipated films of the year and expressed excitement over the exclusive premiere of the film on the platform. Subramaniam added that this is the first step towards their endeavor to bring premium cinematic entertainment to the doorstep of the customers.
Sircar expressed that this can also mark the new beginning of a new era for Indian entertainment and added that he is happy that the global audience will be able to catch the film. The director also informed that the film is a light hearted entertainment that can be enjoyed by the audience along with their families.
Sircar also expressed that it was a wonderful experience working with Mr. Bachchan and Ayushmann in the film. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the film could not be released theatrically and will be streamed online instead.
