BollywoodGaram.com: Abhishek Varman’s new movie ‘2 States’ has finally made it to the Rs. 100 crore club, as the flick reportedly earned Rs. 102 crore at the box office. Even though it has been only 4 weeks since the movie’s premiere, it is safe to say that ‘2 States’ is already a hit.
The Bollywood movie had a great start at the box office with Rs. 12 .42 crore on the opening day and went on to make Rs. 38 crore during its opening weekend. The Chetan Bhagat movie reportedly had the third biggest opening in 2014. The first one was the Salman Khan-starrer movie ‘Jai Ho’ and the second one was the Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh-starrer movie ‘Gunday’.
The filmmakers managed to get a couple of things right, which worked in favor of ‘2 States’. The fresh pairing of Arjun and Alia Bhatt apparently worked well with the audience. In addition to that, a number of talented actors from the industry were chosen for the supporting roles, like Rohit Roy, Revathi, Amrita Singh and Kumar Subramaniam. Even though many critics argued that the movie did not do justice to the book, the box office results has proved them all wrong.
The movie is based on the real love story of the author Chetan Bhagat and his wife Ananya.
