Actor Dilip Kumar on December 11, celebrated his 89th birthday and hosted a bash along with wife Saira Bano on the eve of his birthday. Several celebrities from Bollywood came down to wish the actor including Shahrukh Khan, Rani Mukherji, Mahesh Bhatt, Dimple Kapadia, Rajesh Khanna, Shabana Azmi, Deepa Mehta and Javed Akhtar.
Kumar also joined the social networking site Twitter on the day of his birthday. It was Amitabh Bachchan who got him convinced to join the social network.
The ‘Don’ actor also did the honors to introduce Dilip Kumar to the social network. Dilip Kumar is known for his romantic as well as tragic characters he portray while he was active on the silver screens.
Some of his hits like ‘Madhumati’, ‘Devdas’, ‘Daag’, ‘Naya Daur’, ‘Amar’ and ‘Mughal – E – Azam’ are still remembered today for his unique performance. Dilip Kumar was born as Yusuf Khan in Peshawar and was introduced as Dilip Kumar by Devika Rani. After debuting on Twitter, Dilip Kumar expressed his delight when several of his fans and followers showered him with blessings and love. Even actor Amitabh Bachchan on his blog wrote a few lines for the actor and called him an inspiration for him as well as many other actors in the industry.
