Kangana Ranaut will play the rebellious queen for Manikarna – Queen Of Jhansi
Bollywood’s acting chameleon Kangana Ranaut is gearing up for another major role of a lifetime. Rani Laxmibai, or Jhansi Ki Rani as she was fondly remembered, was one of the most powerful and brave women in Indian history. Now, the Queen actress is going to re-enact her phenomenal life for the big screen.
The first images from the shooting of Manikarna – Queen Of Jhansi have emerged, and shows Kangana Ranaut learning to ride a horse. Of course, the daily routine of the famed queen involved ruling from the back of a stallion. Kangana has been picking up this new skill at Mumbai’s famed Mahalaxmi Race Course over the past few days.
The shooting for Manikarna – Queen Of Jhansi faced a few hiccups, since is was claimed that the Tanu Weds Manu star had a fallout due to creative differences with initial director, Ketan Mehta. The director’s chair has now been taken over by South Indian maverick, Krish and it already looks like he’s doing a great job with the epic film.
On a side note, Kangana Ranaut still seems to be immersed in her passion for Bollywood. Her earlier spat with Karan Johar is now an almost forgotten topic. The producer-director had famously asked her to leave the film industry, since she rubbed a number of members the wrong way. She had also accused Bollywood of “nepotism”, with the Koffee With Karan host being the so-called mafia head.
Kangana has won acclaim for her numerous successful projects that have won her awards, the biggest one being the National Award for her contribution to films. Her work in hits like Fashion, Queen, Tanu Weds Manu and the most recent, Rangoon have pleased the audience and critics alike. Though Rangoon technically bombed at the box office, there’s no stopping the feisty star from getting back on the horse, metaphorically and literally, and winning hearts all over again.
