Bollywood filmmaker Ratan Jain has finalized the sequel to the 2000 hit romantic drama ‘Dhadkan’. The sequel to the original movie, starring Shilpa Shetty is expected to go on floors by the end of 2013. The first movie was directed by Dharmesh Darshan and featured Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar, Shilpa Shetty and Suniel Shetty.
The filmmaker released a statement saying, “A lot of people have been constantly asking me about our plans of making ‘Dhadkan 2’. Hence, I am happy to announce that we plan to go on the floors this year”. Jain also went on to say that the essence of the film will remain the same, but the new age sensibilities will be kept in mind.
The sequel has been named ‘Dhadkan 2 – The Heart Beats Once Again’. The movie is expected to be released in 2014. Darshan will helm the upcoming project and admits that it will be a challenge to replicate the success of the first movie. This movie also marks the filmmaker’s return behind the camera, as a certain amount of time has passed since his last project.
The filmmaker went on to say that he is humbled and honored and promises to give ‘Dhadkan 2’ as much as he can. Darshan is thus ready for another career challenge.
