Actress Diya Mirza was recently detained at the Mumbai airport by the customs officials. The actress was detained for having undeclared goods worth Rs two lakhs.

The ‘Dus Kahaniya’ actress landed at the airport at 2 am from Bangkok by a Thai airways flight. Mirza was then seen passing through the green channel, which is usually used by the passengers who do not have dutiable goods.

The customs officials then prevented the actress and asked her to show her baggage. During the checking it was found that she was carrying undeclared goods like branded bags and purses.

The officials said that this amounted to duty evasion. The actress was then asked to pay a fine of Rs. 50,000, which she paid gracefully and was allowed to go immediately. When the actress was questioned she said that she wasn’t aware of the dutiable goods and did not intend to evade duty. Last year many celebrities like Bipasha Basu, Minisha Lamba and many other such celebrities were caught by the Mumbai Airport customs officials for evasion of duty. Mirza became the latest celebrity to be detained by the customs officials. Diya was the second runner up at the Femina Miss India 2000 and then won the Miss Asia Pacific pageant.
