The 2013 Filmfare Awards was a win-win situation for Sujoy Ghosh’s ‘Kahaani’ and Anurag Basu’s ‘Barfi’. The awards ceremony was held on January 20, 2013 and almost all major Bollywood celebrities attended the event.

‘Barfi’ bagged the Best Film Award, while Ranbir Kapoor claimed the award for Best Actor – Male. Vidya Balan claimed the Best Actor – Female award for her role in the movie ‘Kahaani’. The celebrities who attended the awards ceremony included Siddharth Roy Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra, Ranbir Kapoor, Madhuri Duxit, Sonali Bendre, Sridevi, Boney Kapoor Deepika Padukone, Goldie Behl and Rekha.
The late filmmaker Yash Chopra was given the Lifetime Achievement Award posthumously. Chopra passed away in October 2012, after suffering from dengue. Petite beauty Anushka Sharma won the award for the Best Actress In A Supporting Role – Female, for her role in ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’. Lyricist Gulzar won the best lyricist award for the song ‘Challa’ from ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ as well.
Gauri Shinde claimed the award for the Best Debutante Director for her movie ‘English Vinglish’ and Ayushman Khurana won the Best Debut – Male award for his movie ‘Vicky Donor’. Actress Ileana D’Cruz won the Best Debut – Female award for her movie ‘Barfi’. Richa Chaddha won the Best Actor – Female (critics choice) for the movie ‘Gangs Of Wasseypur’, while the Best Actor – Male (critics choice) was claimed by Irfan Khan for the movie ‘Paan Singh Tomar’.
